The job holder will be responsible for handling customer inquiries and service requests related to electricity, including prepaid and post-paid metering, billing, token purchases, and power supply issues while ensuring meter functionality, system uptime, and timely resolution of technical issues affecting customers and operations.
Responsibilities or duties
- Configure, commission, and maintain prepaid and postpaid meters.
- Investigate issues such as token failures, negative balances, billing errors, and high-consumption complaints.
- Ensure accurate meter data capture, synchronization, and reporting
- Conduct site visits to install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair metering and electrical systems.
- Resolve faults related to meter communication (e.g., wiring and power supply.
- Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and service interruptions.
- Continuously monitor system performance, uptime, and meter status (online/offline).
- Identify and report anomalies such as communication failures, abnormal consumption, or system errors.
- Respond to customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Educate customers on meter usage, token processes, and basic troubleshooting steps.
- Educate customers on Health, Safety & Compliance.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses promptly.
- Educate users on basic troubleshooting.
- Receive, log, and track incidents related to prepaid and postpaid metering systems.
- Provide first-line support for meter faults, billing discrepancies, and communication failures.
- Monitor system uptime, meter connectivity, and server performance.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. Computer literate
- Basic understanding of meter communication technologies, vending systems and meter data management platforms
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
- Must be a team player
Experience needed
At least 1 year experience in basic electrical/electronic principles and operations
