Background
Brown's Food Co. is a premium food manufacturing company producing cheese, yoghurt, ice cream, dips, and baked goods for the East African market. We work closely with local farmers to deliver high-quality, wholesome products from Nature's Bounty.
We are seeking a Milk Collection & Farmers' Recruitment Officer (Veterinarian) to support quality milk sourcing, farmer engagement, animal health, and food safety across our milk supply chain.
Key Objectives of the Role:
- Ensure consistent quality and quantity of milk collection.
- Promote animal wellness and food safety culture.
- Strengthen farmer relationships, recruitment, and training.
- Support data-driven reporting and decision-making.
- Drive efficient cooling plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Veterinary & Farm Services:
- Examine, diagnose, and treat livestock diseases and injuries.
- Administer vaccinations and preventive treatments.
- Advise farmers on feeding, hygiene, and animal welfare.
- Conduct post-mortems, quarantine, and disease control procedures.
- Train and supervise farm workers on animal health and safety.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary and regulatory standards.
Milk Quality & Quantity Management:
- Support smooth operations at assigned milk cooling plant(s).
- Grow and manage a reliable base of farmers supplying quality milk.
- Conduct regular farmer visits and implement training programs.
- Address milk quality concerns and advise farmers and traders.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for cooling plants.
Stakeholder & Data Management:
- Prepare and submit weekly operational reports.
- Maintain accurate records on farmers, assets, stock, and training.
- Track and report quality-related cases and corrective actions.
- Ensure daily activity reporting for self and assigned teams.
People & Team Management:
- Train, guide, and supervise assigned staff.
- Foster a strong food safety and quality culture.
- Provide clear direction, feedback, and performance support.
Key Accountabilities:
- Growth in number of individual farmers supplying milk.
- Accurate data collection and reporting.
- Protection and maintenance of company assets.
- Risk reduction across cooling plant operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or higher qualification in Veterinary Medicine, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within the dairy industry.
- Strong understanding of dairy regulations and quality standards.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
- Must be a registered member of Kenya Veterinary Board.
