Looking for an IT training job in Kenya? Startup Lions ICT Campus is hiring a Mobile Leap (ML) Cohort Coach skilled in mobile development instruction, digital literacy facilitation, mentorship, and cohort performance tracking.
Role Purpose
The Mobile LEAP Coach is responsible for day-to-day learner support, classroom execution, and discipline enforcement, ensuring that learners stay engaged, present, and progressing throughout the cohort.
The coach plays a critical role in preventing dropout, reinforcing learning, and maintaining accurate learner data in Asha, directly contributing to completion rate, attendance compliance, and skill readiness.
Responsibilities or duties
Classroom Execution Support
- Support the Cohort Guide in delivering daily training sessions.
- Reinforce key concepts through practical exercises and peer support.
- Ensure all learners are actively participating during sessions.
- Maintain classroom order, discipline, and time management.
Learner Monitoring & Support
- Track daily learner engagement, attendance, and behavior.
- Provide hands-on support to learners struggling with content.
- Act as the first point of contact for learner challenges.
- Build strong relationships to motivate and retain learners.
Dropout Prevention & Risk Management
- Identify at-risk learners early (attendance drop, low participation, poor performance).
- Conduct follow-ups (calls, check-ins, peer support) for absent learners.
- Escalate critical cases to the Cohort Guide/Welfare Team.
- Support interventions to retain learners within the program.
Attendance & Asha Data Management
- Take daily attendance accurately and on time.
- Ensure real-time or same-day updates in Asha.
- Track learner progress and flag inconsistencies.
- Maintain clean, complete, and reliable cohort data.
Assessment & Practice Support
- Support quizzes, assignments, and practical exercises.
- Help learners complete daily/weekly tasks.
- Reinforce learning through revision sessions and peer learning.
Inclusion & Safeguarding
- Ensure all learners are actively included and supported.
- Pay attention to vulnerable groups (young mothers, refugees, PWDs).
- Report safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately.
- Support implementation of inclusive learning practices.
Reporting & Coordination
- Provide session updates to the cohort captain on:
- Attendance
- At-risk learners
- Classroom challenges
- Participate in weekly trainer meetings.
- Coordinate with:
- Cohort Guide (delivery alignment)
- Welfare Team (learner well-being)
- Data Officer (Asha compliance)
Qualifications or requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate of Mobile LEAP (minimum); Bootcamp is an added advantage
- Completed Training of Trainers (TOT) (preferred)
- Experience as a learner or assistant in previous cohorts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of discipline and accountability
- Basic digital literacy and data entry skills
- Support the Cohort Guide in delivering daily training sessions.
