Position Summary
The Motor Vehicle Mechanic (MVM) is responsible for safely and efficiently performing inspections, repairs and maintenance of general purpose government vehicles. This position functions as the Alternate Vehicle Manager and reports to the Operations Manager. .

Major Job Activities
• Determines the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment, corrects deficiencies, and effects repair.
• Shall be capable of using diagnostic test equipment, and of accurately diagnosing and repairing assigned electronic controlled equipment.
• Shall repair, adjust, overhaul, or replace major assemblies or sub-assemblies such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering assemblies, tracks, hydraulic system components, and equipment attachments.
• May be required to remove, disassemble, and repair gasoline or diesel engines and components.
• Shall repair components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts, grinding, fitting, balancing, or arranging for welding or machining.
• Shall reassemble, adjust, and test repaired units for proper operation.
• Shall properly annotate all maintenance performed on prescribed forms for data collection.
• Shall initiate corrective actions to resolve problems, prevent delays and guarantee customer satisfaction.
• Responsible for following a comprehensive safety program in compliance with NEMA, OSHA requirements.
• Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas.
