Responsibilities or duties

The Subject Teacher – Music will be responsible for delivering an engaging music programme that develops students' creativity, self-expression and appreciation of the arts, in alignment with the Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi's Early Years curriculum. The role involves teaching music across all nursery year groups, identifying and nurturing musical talent from an early age, and preparing students for assemblies, performances and interschool events such as the Kenya Music Festival. The teacher will maintain strong communication with parents and colleagues, integrate music into daily routines and interdisciplinary projects, and ensure the safe and effective use of school instruments.

Qualifications or requirements

  • Diploma or Professional Qualification in Music & Performing Arts; a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, or related field, is advantageous
  • Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration certificate.
  • Certificate of good conduct.

Experience needed

2-3[BB1] years of experience teaching music, preferably in an early years or primary school setting.

Proven ability to identify, nurture and support musical talent, and to organize school performances and festivals.

Skilled in composing, arranging and adapting music suitable for young learners, and in maintaining school instruments.
