Background

Inchcape is a leading independent global automotive distributor, acting as brand custodian for major automotive OEMs in 31 countries. Inchcape handles product planning, brand positioning, logistics, marketing, network management, sales and aftersales for 30 OEMs including Toyota, BMW, JLR and Subaru. The Group is pursuing a strategy of growth, both organically and by acquiring distribution businesses globally.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will:

  • Drive Business Performance: Ensure Parts’ sales volume, revenue, and gross profit consistently meet or exceed business targets and customer needs.
  • Develop Strategic Plans: Create robust sales and distribution strategies, including effective forecasting, pricing surveys, and maintaining high fill rates for essential parts.
  • Expand Market Share: Retain existing customers while actively recruiting new farmers, dealers, and B2B customers to outpace competition and grow the Parts business.
  • Lead and Inspire: Provide effective leadership to a team of 10–15 direct reports, ensuring they are motivated to achieve sales targets and professional success.
  • Manage Inventory End-to-End: Oversee the entire lifecycle of parts, including receiving, warehousing, inventory management, and retail distribution.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Maintain strong relationships with the OEM, marketing, and equipment sales teams to design effective campaigns and brand awareness clinics.
  • Enhance Customer Experience: Provide high-quality, personalized service and participate in "Customer Days" to create exceptional experiences and long-term loyalty.
  • Facilitate Field Operations: Undertake routine travel within Kenya to visit various locations and engage directly with customers and partners.

Qualifications

About You

To be successful in this role, you would need:

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in field sales operations, customer marketing, or trade marketing, with a proven track record of driving market share gains.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree (Honors) with a minimum Second-Class Upper Division; an MBA or post-graduate qualification is a desirable advantage.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrable experience in capability building, skills development, and managing large sales organizations for success.
  • Commercial Acumen: A commercially astute mindset with the ability to make decisions that deliver expected results and meet customer needs.
  • Interpersonal Excellence: Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence others and manage complex interpersonal relationships.
  • Integrity: A commitment to high ethical practices, openness, and good corporate governance.
  • Driven Mindset: A result-oriented approach with the creativity to develop new ideas for selling and problem-solving skills to course-correct when necessary.
