Job Objective

To provide high-quality, timely, and professional nursing and primary healthcare services to students, while promoting health, preventing illness, responding to medical emergencies, and supporting the overall health and wellbeing of the University community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing quality nursing care, assessment, treatment, and follow-up services to students.
  • Conducting patient triage, vital signs monitoring, and preliminary clinical assessments.
  • Administering prescribed medication and treatments in accordance with professional standards.
  • Responding promptly to medical emergencies and providing first aid and basic life support when required.
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records.
  • Providing health education, counselling, and guidance on preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyles.
  • Supporting the implementation of health screening, wellness, immunisation, and other preventive health programmes.
  • Coordinating referrals and facilitating appropriate follow-up for patients requiring specialised medical care.
  • Monitoring medical supplies, equipment, and consumables, and ensuring their proper use and availability.
  • Preparing medical reports and health statistics while ensuring compliance with applicable healthcare policies, regulations, and professional ethics.

Qualifications and experience

  • Diploma in Nursing from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant post-qualification nursing experience.
  • Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya and be in good professional standing, with a valid practising licence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centred care, professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical nursing practice.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, assessment, and emergency response skills.
