Leadership and Operational Management Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and mentorship to nursing and support staff. Ensure optimal staffing levels, effective duty rostering, and fair work distribution. Foster teamwork, discipline, and professional accountability across all shifts. Ensure smooth patient flow from triage to discharge while minimizing waiting times. Clinical and Service Excellence Oversee the quality of clinical care in OPD and A&E, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and emergency standards. Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) measures and patient safety guidelines. Supervise and ensure efficiency of the Minor Theatre, including scheduling, preparedness, and resource utilization. Collaborate with consultants, doctors, and multidisciplinary teams to enhance continuity and quality of care. Departmental Growth and Revenue Optimization Support initiatives aimed at increasing patient volumes, retention, and service utilization. Monitor and improve departmental efficiency and revenue performance through cost control, optimized workflows, and reduced wastage. Promote and grow revenue-generating services within OPD and A&E, including Minor Theatre procedures, wellness packages, and follow-up clinics. Work closely with Finance, Business Development, and Clinical teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance financial performance. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain strong working relationships with consultants, clinicians, and allied health professionals to strengthen patient care pathways. Facilitate regular communication between nursing, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure seamless service delivery. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to align departmental objectives with hospital-wide strategy. Quality Assurance and Compliance Ensure full compliance with Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) standards, hospital policies, and statutory requirements. Participate in quality audits, patient safety reviews, and accreditation exercises. Monitor and report clinical indicators, incidents, and service improvement outcomes. Staff Development and Performance Management Conduct regular performance evaluations and identify training needs for nursing staff. Facilitate mentorship, continuous professional development (CPD), and clinical skills enhancement. Encourage innovation, accountability, and professional growth among the nursing team. Patient Experience and Customer Service Champion exceptional patient experience by ensuring compassionate, responsive, and respectful care. Proactively address patient complaints, feedback, and service recovery to strengthen satisfaction and loyalty. Reporting and Administration Maintain accurate and timely reports on departmental performance, staff productivity, and incident tracking. Provide monthly reports to the Chief Nursing Officer, including operational, financial, and quality indicators.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized institution. Valid Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) license. Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or in-charge role, preferably in OPD/A&E. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is mandatory. Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is an added advantage
