JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
• Support the Occupational Safety and Health Office in achieving a safe workplace and a healthy workforce thereby enhancing productivity as well as meeting Occupational Health and Safety Act 2007 regulatory and other accreditation requirements.

Key responsibilities
• Assist in coordination of occupational safety and health audits and renewal of related workplaces licenses across AKU, N including ALL Outreach Centres.
• Coordinate the activities of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee
• Assist in the recording, investigations of work related accidents and reporting both to the insurer and DOSH.
• Assist in coordination of staff training in health and safety matters across the hospital i.e. safe moving and handling, second victims of a sentinel event, and other safety and wellbeing related trainings.
• Assist in gathering, maintaining, analyzing and dissemination of OSH related data across the organization.
• Assist in WIBA and GPA coordination, treatment of injured staff, follow-up and claims processing.
• Assist in other OSH functions as delegated by the OSH Manager.

Qualifications, Experience and skills required:
• A relevant Health /Environment/ Engineering Bachelor’s degree
• Training in Occupational Safety and Health
• Basic knowledge and skills in research will be an added advantage.
• Computer literacy & proficient in Microsoft office packages
• A minimum of 3 years working in Occupational Safety & Health role
• Working in a large healthcare setting will be an added advantage
• Demonstrable organizational, problem solving, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to develop good interpersonal relationships
• Problem solving, critical thinking skills
• Patience, understanding and a caring attitude
• Ability to work independently
• High integrity level
