Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of our FMCG business. The role is responsible for ensuring smooth operational flow across distribution, fleet management, health & safety compliance, and people management while driving efficiency, accountability, and performance across teams.

This is a practical role suited for a strong operator who thrives in fast-paced environments and can balance field operations with administrative oversight.

Key Responsibilities

1. Day-to-Day Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operational activities to ensure timely delivery, stock availability, and service continuity
  • Coordinate between sales, warehouse, distribution, and administration teams
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions

2. Fleet Management

  • Manage company vehicles to ensure optimal utilization, fuel efficiency, and route planning
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, repairs, insurance, licensing, and compliance
  • Monitor driver performance, safety, and adherence to company transport policies

3. Health & Safety Compliance

  • Implement and enforce workplace health & safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular safety inspections across depots, warehouses, and operational sites
  • Ensure compliance with statutory health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures

4. People Management

  • Supervise, coach, and manage operational staff including drivers, loaders, warehouse teams, and field staff
  • Set clear performance targets and conduct regular performance reviews
  • Manage staff discipline, attendance, and compliance with company policies
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of operations staff

5. Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare operational reports on fleet performance, safety, productivity, and costs
  • Track KPIs and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and cost control
  • Support audits and internal controls related to operations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an operations role within FMCG, logistics, or distribution
  • Proven experience in fleet management and people supervision
  • Strong understanding of health & safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing multi-site or field-based teams is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent planning, coordination, and problem-solving abilities
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced FMCG environment
  • Proficient in MS Office and basic reporting tools
