JOB DETAILS:
Operations Manager- Hospital
Job Purpose: The post-holder will ensure all operations are carried out on in an appropriate, cost effective way, improve operational management systems, processes and best practices as well as help the hospital’s processes remain legally compliant.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Management and Planning
• To manage a range of support services within the hospital
• Deliver a range of objectives and performance indicators
• Ensure systems are in place to monitor and evaluate performance against service objectives
• Ensure systems are in place to monitor compliance with the set standards
• Prepare and annually update service development plans
• Keep abreast of current affairs and identify potential threats and opportunities
• Develop and maintain effective communication both within the hospital/clinics and with relevant outside agencies
• Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the team’s performance and service expansion
• Develop expertise and day to day operational knowledge of IT systems and databases used in the hospital services
• Able to provide “on call” support to teams as required by the organization
Financial Management
• Manage service budgets on behalf of the Directors and keep a watchful eye on expenditure
• Through preparation and submission of regular development plans, ensure the services receive an appropriate and equitable allocation of resources
• Understand and report on the financial implications of contract and legislation changes
• Monitor cash-flow, prepare forecasts and reports for the Directors
• Monitor and reconcile income and expenditure statements through the management accounts
• Manage related invoices in collaboration with the finance office
Involvement with stakeholders
On behalf of the Directors the role holder will be required to liaise with local authorities and key stakeholders in establishing good working relationships.
Quality and Risk Management
• Proactively engage with all relevant bodies to raise the profile of quality and compliance
• Responsible for managing incidents and complaints for the hospital with recommendations on organizational learning where appropriate
• To report, manage and mitigate ant clinical risks
• Provide advice and support to staff in respect of quality and governance issues
• To undertake audits on service standards, infection control and produce reports with recommended actions as appropriate.
• Ensure that service continuity plans are current and robust
• Comply with company policies and procedures
• Liaise with the Directors to report outcomes and performance issues
• Take a strategic approach to patient engagement and satisfaction related to service delivery across the hospital.

Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Marketing, Finance or related field
• Professional qualification Operations Management is an added advantage
• Experience budgeting and forecasting
• At least 5 years working experience with three years in operations management role
• Proven work experience as Operations Manager or similar role
• Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
• Familiarity with business and financial principles
• Excellent communication skills
• Leadership ability
• Outstanding organizational skills
