Beroya Church: City of Refuge Branch, Community Health Initiative in Partnership with Silverheal hospital and Open Space Ministry (OSM)
We are organizing a FREE TWO-DAY MEDICAL CAMP on 29th-30th May 2026 at Beroya Church: City of Refuge Branch Kizito Kiambu county.
We are urgently seeking qualified and licensed healthcare professionals to join our team for this important community service exercise.
Responsibilities or duties
- Conduct basic eye examinations and vision screening for patients.
- Prescribe and dispense corrective lenses (reading glasses, distance glasses) where applicable.
- Provide eye health education on common conditions such as refractive errors, allergic conjunctivitis, and trachoma.
- Identify and refer patients with serious eye conditions (cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, etc.) to specialized eye hospitals.
- Maintain accurate records of eye tests and glasses dispensed.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Diploma or Degree in Optometry/Opticianry from a recognized institution.
- Valid and current practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) or the relevant Op body.
- Competence in refraction, vision testing, and basic eye examinations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume setting and manage large numbers of patients.
- Good command of English and Kiswahili (knowledge of local dialects is an advantage).
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, ethics, and professionalism.
Experience needed
- At least 1 year of practical experience in optometry or optical services.
- Experience in community outreach eye camps or vision screening programs will be a strong advantage.
Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)
- Must be available for both days of the medical camp (29th & 30th May 2026) from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
- Willingness to work in a high-volume, community-based setting Kizito setting
- Must present original documents for verification if shortlisted.
