KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform tests to assess visual acuity, perception, and ocular health.
  • Diagnose ocular disease and visual abnormalities.
  • Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and visual aids under supervision.
  • Refer patients to Ophthalmologists or Clinical Officers when needed.
  • Evaluate specialty eye-care needs and prepare service statistics.
  • Ensure optometry equipment is well resourced and maintained.
  • Dispense corrective spectacles and support high refraction-to-dispense conversion.
  • Supervise junior staff and participate in medical staff functions and continuing education.
  • Be flexible to serve at satellite clinics and resolve optometry-related issues accurately and on time.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Degree or Diploma in Optometry
  • 3 years' experience in the same field
  • Hospital experience is an added advantage
  • Multi-task oriented
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Professionalism and integrity
