The project:
The Genetic Associations of INfertility (GAIN) Study is a multi-country research project aimed at identifying genetic and epigenetic markers associated with unexplained infertility in African females. Unexplained infertility is a significant and often under-researched health challenge affecting women across the continent. ObimboLab, in partnership with the KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research, is seeking a motivated and dedicated PhD candidate to join the GAIN Study.
The Position:
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career clinician or researcher with a passion for women’s health, obstetrics and gynecology, or maternal–child health research. The position is full-time and offers a fully funded PhD program, including tuition, research costs, and a small stipend to support living expenses.

Small monthly stipend provided

Immediate / As soon as suitable candidate is selected
Duties and Responsibilities
The PhD candidate will be expected to:
- Participate in recruitment, clinical assessments, and data collection activities within the GAIN Study;
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Africa;
- Contribute to genomic and clinical data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and scientific dissemination;
- Undertake a full-time PhD program aligned with the study’s scientific objectives;
- Engage in capacity-building, seminars, and scientific workshops coordinated through Obimbolab and KAVI-ICR.
Job Specifications:
- Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Nursing, Internal Medicine, Public Health, Obstetrics & Gynecology, or a closely related clinical field, from a recognized university.
- Previous research experience is an added advantage.

This is a one-year full time contract.
