Role Context
The PR & Communications Associate will support the execution of Prudential Kenya’s public relations and communications agenda by strengthening media relations, developing high-quality content, supporting internal communication initiatives, coordinating PR events, and assisting in crisis and reputational risk management.
The role will contribute to protecting and enhancing the Prudential brand by ensuring consistent, timely, and compliant communication across all internal and external touchpoints.
Principal Accountabilities
Media Relations and Public Relations
- Draft, edit, and support pitching of press releases, media statements, op-eds, and bylined articles to secure earned media coverage.
- Support the coordination of media interviews, including preparation of briefing notes, key messages, and Q&A documents.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media stakeholders across relevant platforms.
- Monitor daily media coverage, track sentiment and emerging issues, and escalate potential reputational risks appropriately.
Content Creation and Content Management
- Develop and edit content for newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, website updates, and corporate publications.
- Support content creation and scheduling for Prudential Kenya’s social media platforms in line with the brand tone and guidelines.
- Maintain a structured content repository and support the communications calendar to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Internal Communication and Brand Compliance
- Assist in the development and distribution of internal communications, including employee newsletters, staff announcements, and leadership messages.
- Support brand compliance checks to ensure all communications adhere to Prudential brand guidelines, tone of voice, and governance requirements.
- Coordinate internal approvals and version control for communication materials.
Events and PR Logistics Support
- Support the planning and coordination of press conferences, media briefings, webinars, public relations events, and stakeholder engagements.
- Assist with event logistics, invitations, media attendance tracking, and post-event reporting.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure successful execution of PR-related activities.
Crisis Communication and Reporting
- Support the implementation of communication strategies during issues or crises, including preparation of holding statements and stakeholder messages.
- Assist in maintaining communications risk logs and issues trackers.
- Prepare PR performance reports, media coverage summaries, and post-campaign evaluations to inform decision-making and learning.
Core Competencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good report writing and content editing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with digital and social media platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- 1–5 years’ experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, or agency environment.
- Experience supporting media relations, content development, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in written English; Swahili proficiency is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of financial services or insurance industry communication is an added advantage.
