About the Role

The Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) is seeking a qualified and experienced Payables and Receivables Accountant to support the organization’s financial operations through effective management of accounts payable, receivable processes, cash flow, and grant-related financial reporting.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of payments and receivables, compliance with donor and organizational requirements, and strong financial accountability across NRT operations and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify vendor invoices and payments
  • Manage accounts receivable processes, invoicing, and payment tracking
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and support cash flow management
  • Support the financial management of donor-funded and conservancy-based projects
  • Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation
  • Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, and expenditure analyses
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with financial policies and donor requirements
  • Contribute to process improvement and strengthening of internal controls

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field
  • CPA qualification (minimum Section Four)
  • At least 6 years of experience in accounts payable, receivables, reconciliations, and cash management
  • Experience supporting donor-funded projects or grants management is an added advantage
  • Familiarity with accounting systems, ERP platforms, and financial reporting tools
  • Registration with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) will be an added advantage.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • High integrity, accountability, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
