ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an embedded Business Partner role sitting within a designated department. You will be the primary P&C interface for the department, partnering directly with the Head of Department and Line Managers to drive people strategy, operational HR delivery, and employee relations. This is not a generalist support role; it requires someone who can hold their own in complex ER matters, navigate Kenyan employment law confidently, and build credible relationships within a fast-paced, target-driven environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Business Partnering

  • Serve as the dedicated P&C point of contact for your assigned department, advising the HOD and Line Managers on people matters across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Translate business priorities into actionable P&C interventions.
  • Prepare and present people metrics and insights to departmental leadership.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Lead end-to-end disciplinary and grievance processes, from issuing show cause notices and chairing hearings through to drafting findings reports and outcome letters , in full compliance with the Employment Act 2007 and company policy.
  • Handle complex ER matters including summary dismissal, misconduct investigations, and formal grievances, with the confidence to defend decisions under legal scrutiny.
  • Ensure all people practices are compliant with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 and relevant labour legislation.

Performance Management

  • Drive the department's performance management cycle, goal setting, mid-year check-ins, formal reviews, and performance escalation where required.
  • Support Line Managers in managing underperformance using structured frameworks, coaching them on giving effective feedback and managing without demotivating.
  • Identify and manage formal PIPs in collaboration with line managers.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for assigned roles, including sourcing, screening, coordinating assessments, and offer management.
  • Oversee structured onboarding to ensure new hires are effectively integrated and up to productivity quickly.

Learning, Development & Engagement

  • Design and facilitate targeted internal training sessions for Line managers covering feedback, performance management, recognition, and people leadership.
  • Coordinate quarterly departmental training and sensitization initiatives in collaboration with the L&D function.
  • Run and interpret engagement surveys, translating findings into concrete action plans owned at the department level.

People and Culture Projects & Process Improvement

  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional P&C projects, from system requirements and process redesign to policy rollouts and compliance initiatives.
  • Identify and close gaps in HR processes within the department, with a continuous improvement mindset.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a business partnering or embedded HR role.
  • Active IHRM membership in good standing; CHRP-K certification is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of the Employment Act 2007, Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, and related labour legislation.

  • Ability to manage multiple HR functions simultaneously
