Job Summary
Responsible for supporting surgical and theatre procedures by preparing the operating theatre, equipment, instruments, and supplies while maintaining strict infection-prevention and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating theatre before procedures.
- Ensure surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and properly prepared.
- Assist with sterilization and safe handling of surgical instruments.
- Support surgical teams during procedures within the scope of training.
- Maintain theatre cleanliness and infection-prevention standards.
- Check theatre equipment before and after procedures.
- Assist with patient preparation and transfer as directed.
- Maintain appropriate theatre records and documentation.
- Monitor availability of theatre supplies and report shortages.
- Assist with cleaning, disinfection, and preparation of the theatre after procedures.
- Follow established surgical safety and infection-control protocols.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Perioperative Theatre Technology or a related field.
- Appropriate professional registration/licensing where applicable.
- Knowledge of theatre procedures, sterilization, and infection prevention.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure clinical environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
