Background

On-behalf of our client in Ghana, we are seeking a professional, reliable, and experienced Personal Chef to manage daily meal planning and preparation for a private household. The ideal candidate will also take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and functionality of the kitchen and assist with light household maintenance tasks. A passion for culinary excellence, organization, and home upkeep is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Culinary Duties
    • Plan and prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals based on household preferences, dietary requirements, and seasonal ingredients.
    • Create weekly menus in consultation with the employer or head of household.
    • Prepare meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and occasional entertaining events or special occasions.
    • Manage grocery shopping, inventory, and proper food storage.
    • Ensure all meals are presented in an appealing and timely manner.
    • Cater to specific dietary needs, allergies, or food intolerances (if any).
  • Kitchen Management & Household Maintenance
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen.
    • Ensure all kitchen equipment and appliances are in good working order; arrange for repairs or servicing when needed.
    • Sanitize kitchen surfaces, sinks, and tools after each use and follow best practices in food hygiene.
    • Manage pantry organization and monitor expiration dates.
    • Handle light household errands such as picking up dry cleaning, managing deliveries, or assisting with setting up for small gatherings.
    • Coordinate with other domestic staff (if applicable) to ensure a smooth household.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Supervise or assist with training of support staff or domestic assistants.
    • Provide simple table service during formal or informal meals.
    • Prepare snacks and lunch-boxes for children or other family members.
    • Assist with household inventory management (cleaning supplies, kitchen tools, etc.)

Candidate Profile

  • Qualifications and Experience
    • Proven experience as a private/personal chef or in a similar culinary role.
    • Culinary certification or professional training is preferred.
    • Knowledge of diverse cuisines and dietary trends (local, international, vegetarian, etc.).
    • Strong understanding of kitchen safety, hygiene standards, and food handling.
    • Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move kitchen supplies.
    • High attention to detail, cleanliness, and presentation.
    • Ability to maintain discretion, confidentiality, and a respectful demeanor at all times.
