Pharmaceutical Technologist- Nyamira
Overall Responsibility
The successful candidates shall organize medications for dispensing by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately dispense prescription and over-the-counter medicines to patients.
- Provide correct dosage instructions and educate patients on the safe use of medicines.
- Counsel patients on possible side effects, drug interactions, and storage of medicines.
- Ensure rational drug use in line with treatment guidelines.
- Receive, verify, and record incoming pharmaceutical supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure availability of essential medicines.
- Prevent stock-outs, overstocking, and drug expiries through proper inventory control.
- Maintain accurate records of stock movement and generate periodic reports.
- Ensure all pharmaceutical activities adhere to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and confidentiality within the pharmacy.
- Participate in pharmacovigilance by reporting adverse drug reactions and poor-quality medicines.
- Assist in preparing orders and liaising with suppliers for the replenishment of medicines.
- Support audits, inspections, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to departmental reports, data collection, and performance reviews.
Job Qualifications & Skills
- A diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
- Valid license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in a clinical or supply chain setup (hospital, pharmacy, or warehouse).
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, stock management, and regulatory guidelines.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
