PHARMACIST
LOCATION: NAIROBI, KENYA
REPORTS TO: HEAD OF EYECARE & HEALTH SERVICES
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The holder will be responsible for dispensing ophthalmic medications, counseling patients on their proper use, managing pharmaceutical inventory, supporting ophthalmologists with medication-related information, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the safe and effective treatment of various eye conditions and surgical patients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Dispense ophthalmic medications accurately.
- Educate patients on the proper use of eye medications.
- Assist in the preparation of the pharmacy department budget by forecasting medication needs based on historical data and surgical schedules.
- Implement and maintain an efficient inventory system (e.g., FIFO/FEFO) to manage expiry dates, track batch numbers for recalls, and conduct regular physical stock counts.
- Maintain accurate medication records and documentation.
- Manage medications used in ophthalmic surgeries.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma from a recognized institution.
- Must be a registered Pharmacist with the relevant national pharmacy council/authority (with a valid practicing license).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Experience in an ophthalmic or surgical hospital is a distinct advantage.
- Experience with inventory management software is preferred.

- Entry salary: Kes 45,703/Month
- This is a Permanent & Pensionable Position
