Background
The Ol'Kalou Dairy Co-operative Society Ltd is seeking to fill the position of Plant Technician. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our production plant machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
Responsibilities
The Plant Technician will be responsible for:
- Carrying out routine maintenance, servicing, and repair of production plant machinery and equipment.
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and implementing timely corrective actions.
- Performing preventive maintenance to minimize machine breakdowns and production downtime.
- Ensuring proper installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment and machinery.
- Monitoring machine performance and recommending improvements for efficiency and reliability.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, service logs, and repair reports.
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards in all engineering activities.
- Working closely with production staff to resolve equipment-related operational issues.
- Managing spare parts inventory and recommending replacements when necessary.
- Responding promptly to equipment breakdowns to restore production operations.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or any related field.
- Proven experience in the maintenance of industrial plant machinery (food processing environment is an added advantage).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience in preventive maintenance planning and execution.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and maintenance records.
- Good understanding of safety standards in industrial environments.
