The Project:
KAVI–Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR), and ObimboLab, invites applications for a fulltime Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow to join an innovative program focused on placenta omics, integrating genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, proteomics, and systems biology approaches to advance understanding of placenta in health and disease.
The Position:
This position offers a unique opportunity to work at Obimbolab and one of the world’s most prestigious biomedical research institutions (Karolinska Institute). The position involves periodic travel, and short research stays at the Karolinska Institute to foster integrated collaboration, training, and methodological advances.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Postdoctoral Researcher will be expected to:
- Conduct high-quality, independent research in placenta and placenta omics (genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics or related fields);
- Lead and contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Obimbolab and Karolinska Institute.
- Teach, mentor, and supervise students and junior researchers;
- Assist in developing research protocols and securing ethical approvals;
- Contribute to grant writing, fellowship applications, and new project development;
- Present research findings at national and international conferences;
- Strengthen collaborative research capacity across both institutions.
Job Specifications:
1. Applicants must have a PhD in any of the following fields; Genetics, Molecular Biology, Reproductive Biology, Human Anatomy, Medical Physiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Biomedical Sciences, Bioinformatics, or related discipline.
2. Must have a strong research background in placenta biology, maternal–fetal health, or omics technologies.
3. Must have demonstrated experience with high-throughput data.
4. Must have a track record of research productivity, including publications.
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
6. Willingness and ability to spend part of the fellowship period at the Karolinska Institute.
7. Excellent communication, scientific writing, and organizational skills.
Terms of Appointment
This is a one-year full time contract.
