Responsibilities or duties
The Power Plant Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in the power plant, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting maintenance, inspections, and repairs on power generation equipment and associated mechanical systems.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues in engines, turbines, compressors, and other power plant systems.
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and fluid systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical schematics, and manuals to perform repairs and installations accurately.
- Documenting maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and operational upgrades in support of power plant operations.
- Operating and maintaining tools and testing equipment required for maintaining mechanical systems.
- Ensuring compliance with safety protocols, operational standards, and environmental regulations while performing maintenance activities.
- Collaborating effectively with supervisors and other team members to prioritize and accomplish assigned tasks.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Minimum Requirements
- Successfully completed a three-year apprenticeship program in mechanical trades or power plant mechanics.
- Proficiency in maintaining and repairing mechanical systems related to power generation equipment.
- Familiarity with best practices for equipment safety and maintenance procedures in industrial and power plant environments.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Must successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certifications or advanced technical training in power plant systems or mechanical maintenance.
- Prior experience working in OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) or austere environments with multi-national workforces.
- Valid country driver’s license and passport.
- Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and time management skills.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and mechanical diagnostic tools.
