Job Purpose
Coordinate the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports in compliance with existing accounting policies and reporting standards. Oversee the maintenance of accurate record of debtors and credit control function of the Institute
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement financial policies, strategies, regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures;
- Provide advice and supervision to various functional areas on budget preparation process;
- Implement budgetary controls and management of financial returns;
- Prioritize projects and activities for the purpose of financial allocation and reporting;
- Prepare the Medium-Term Expenditure (MTEF) budget for the Institute;
- Undertake expenditure monitoring and expenditure review and forecast;
- Prepare financial forecasting and planning reports;
- Evaluate new credit applications, check credit ratings and set appropriate credit limits for customers.
- Acts as a liaison between the bank and the Institute for all financial transactions for accountability.
- Contact customers on overdue payments, negotiate repayment plans and manage the collection of outstanding invoices.
- Maintain accurate customer records, process payment and issue invoices of credit notes.
- Address and resolve billing issues, payment discrepancies and customer queries.
- Monitor debtors’ days, develop statement policy and implement control frameworks.
- Provide management with reports on credit risks, outstanding debts and performance
- Respond to audit issues;
- Implement audit recommendations to improve financial process and procedures;
- Prepare quarterly and annual management and statutory reports.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Accounting, Statistics, Commerce (Accounting option), Business Administration (Accounting option), Business Management (Accounting option) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) by Kenya Accountants and Secretaries Examinations Board (KASNEB) or its equivalent from a recognized Institution;
- Cumulative service period of nine (9) years’ work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Finance Officer or in a comparable position;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Membership to the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing or relevant professional body;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Demonstrated professional competence and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Only shortlisted candidates will be conducted.
Canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
Successful candidates will be required to comply with Chapter six of the Constitution.
