Requirements for Appointment

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Finance, Economics, Business Administration (Finance Option), Business Management (Finance/Accounting Option), or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination.
  • Registered with Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK) (Kenya).
  • Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  • Three years’ work experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitoring expenditure on projects and programmes periodically.
  • Implementing proposals for raising funds.
  • Processing commitment of funds and monitoring expenditure trends.
  • Providing advisory services to departmental heads and other stakeholders on financial matters.
  • Interpreting and implementing financial regulations, Treasury circulars, letters, and instructions.
  • Ensuring expenditures are within voted allocations.
  • Developing supplementary financial regulations and procedures to enhance internal controls.
  • Preparing management financial reports including monthly expenditure, returns, bank reconciliations, cash flow statements, and deposit analyses.
  • Authorizing payments and signing cheques subject to set limits.
  • Preparing revenue and expenditure returns in compliance with Treasury regulations and law.
