The Independent Policing Oversight Authority is established pursuant to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority Act Cap. 86 Laws of Kenya. Its main function is to provide for civilian oversight over the work of the Police. The Authority wishes to recruit results-oriented Kenyan citizens with drive, vision and creativity to fill the following vacant positions:-

Investigation Management: Lead and manage complex investigations from start to finish, including developing investigation plans, conducting fieldwork, and coordinating resources effectively. Evidence Collection & Analysis: Professional collection, handling, and preservation of evidence from crime scenes and other sources. Interviewing: Conduct interviews with witnesses, suspects, and other individuals to gather crucial information. Reporting: Prepare comprehensive and clear reports on investigation findings, which may be used in legal proceedings. Legal Liaison: Work closely with legal divisions to prepare case files for prosecution and provide evidence in court. Team & Resource Management: Supervise staff under their unit, coordinate with other agencies, and manage investigative resources and personnel. Research: Conduct background research on individuals and companies, acquire relevant databases, and research topics to support investigations. Compliance: Ensure all investigative activities adhere to legal and procedural requirements.
Analytical & Critical Thinking: Ability to assess evidence, identify key facts, and draw logical conclusions. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for report writing, interviewing, and presenting findings. Report Writing: Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and detailed reports based on complex investigations. Interviewing Skills: Ability to conduct effective interviews to extract valuable information. Legal Knowledge: Understanding of relevant criminal law, procedures, and legal requirements. Computer Literacy: Proficiency with relevant software and databases used in investigations. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with colleagues, witnesses, and other stakeholders. Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to evidence handling and case management to ensure accuracy and integrity. Planning & Prioritization: Skill in developing and managing work plans, and prioritizing tasks to achieve objectives.
