The Independent Policing Oversight Authority is established pursuant to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority Act Cap. 86 Laws of Kenya. Its main function is to provide for civilian oversight over the work of the Police. The Authority wishes to recruit results-oriented Kenyan citizens with drive, vision and creativity to fill the following vacant positions:-

Strategic Legal Advice: Provide authoritative legal guidance and expertise to senior leaders on corporate, commercial, and policy matters. Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive legal research to inform advice and identify innovative solutions for complex legal and administrative problems. Contract Negotiation & Drafting: Draft and negotiate complex legal agreements, ensuring they align with organizational objectives and protect interests. Risk Management: Advise on and manage potential legal risks, protecting the organization from costly legal actions and liabilities. Leadership & Management: Lead and manage legal teams, providing performance feedback, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a collaborative environment. Policy Development: Advise on the development and enhancement of relevant organizational policies and frameworks. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with senior leaders and external stakeholders, presenting clear and persuasive advice on complex legal matters. Litigation Support: Represent the organization in legal proceedings and advise on litigation-related matters.
Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex information, weigh facts, and formulate sound decisions and practical solutions. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex legal concepts clearly, persuasively, and in a business-oriented manner. Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of legal professionals. Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills to represent the organization and achieve favorable outcomes in high-stakes discussions. Legal Drafting: Proficiency in drafting legal instruments, agreements, and other relevant documents. Professional Competence: A high degree of integrity, conscientiousness, efficiency, and a commitment to deadlines. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent skills in building and maintaining professional relationships within and outside the organization. Independent Judgment: Sound judgment to evaluate risks and benefits and to make timely decisions under pressure.
