Role Purpose

The Procurement Lead – Indirect Purchase is a mid-senior leadership role responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement of indirect goods and services essential for the Energy organization’s growth. This role ensures cost-efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of critical infrastructure components and services—ranging from site deployment CAPEX to on-ground manpower—to support our rapidly expanding distributed network.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute procurement strategies for indirect categories including site deployment CAPEX, CCTV systems, internet services, solar and energy systems and facility management.
  • Vendor Management: Identify, vet, and manage relationships with high-quality vendors and service providers to ensure reliable support for distributed infrastructure.
  • Manpower Procurement: Lead the sourcing and contracting of on-ground manpower and outsourced service providers across diverse geographic regions.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead high-value negotiations to optimize costs while ensuring adherence to organizational standards and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure all indirect procurement activities comply with relevant regulatory, safety, and quality requirements across multiple markets.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with the Energy team and Head of Energy to align procurement activities with project timelines and budgetary goals.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, procurement logs, and cost-benefit reports to provide visibility into indirect spend

Experience

  • 15+ Years of Seniority: Extensive background in procurement, with at least 15 years of experience focusing on indirect spend and service categories.
  • Pan-African Infrastructure: Proven track record in the Telecom, Renewables or distributed services industry with a deep understanding of the logistical and regulatory nuances of operating in Africa.
  • Regional Market Mastery: Demonstrated experience managing procurement across diverse African markets, with a focus on navigating local import/export challenges and “last-mile” delivery constraints.
  • Vendor Ecosystem Development: Success in building and qualifying a robust network of local vendors and service providers in markets with fragmented supply chains.
  • Startup Agility: Experience working in a structured yet fast-paced, process-driven environment where rapid scaling is required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: In Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field MBA is a plus
