Procurement Lead at Safaricom Investment Co-operative (S.I.C.)
We are seeking a Procurement Lead to lead and manage the organization’s procurement function end to end. The role is critical for ensuring transparency, cost-effectiveness, compliance with procurement policies, and the timely sourcing of goods and services aligned to project and operational requirements.
What You Will Do
- Managing the end-to-end procurement process, including planning, sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management.
- Developing and implementing procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders to forecast procurement needs and develop procurement plans.
- Maintaining a database of pre-qualified suppliers and overseeing tendering and bid evaluation processes.
- Monitoring market trends and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensuring documentation, reporting, and audit readiness at all times.
- The role will ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, reducing procurement risks and audit findings.
- Supporting strategic projects by ensuring timely availability of materials and services, while promoting value-for-money practices and ethical procurement standards.
- Align governance expectations and supports internal controls and operational efficiency.
- Streamline vendor management, enhance competitive sourcing, and deliver cost savings across departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Must be a member of Kenya Institute of Suppliers Management and in good standing
- Demonstrated experience in: Strategic sourcing and category management, Vendor selection, evaluation, and relationship management, Negotiation of contracts, SLAs, and pricing, Procurement planning, budgeting, and reporting, Managing tenders, RFQs and compliance processes, Working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
