Job Responsibilities
Procurement Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement procurement plans for Agrochemicals and Fertilizers.
- Work closely with the Head of Agro-Division and the Procurement Manager to align procurement schedules with seasonal demand cycles (planting seasons, regional demand variations).
- Raise, process, and track purchase orders (local and international).
- Monitor stock levels and trigger replenishment in coordination with warehouse and sales teams.
Supplier Management
- Conduct supplier due diligence, including technical capability, certifications, and compliance.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery timelines, and contracts.
- Maintain a vetted supplier database for agrochemical and fertilizer categories.
- Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews (cost, quality, delivery, compliance).
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Liaise with the Registration Department to ensure all procured chemicals and fertilizers comply with PCPB (Pest Control Products Board) regulations, KEBS standards, and international standards (FAO, WHO where applicable).
- Liaise with the Shipping Department to ensure the necessary import permits are obtained, while confirming adherence to all applicable labelling and handling requirements with the technical team.
Inventory & Demand Management
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service teams to forecast demand accurately and ensure on-time delivery.
- Monitor inventory turnover and minimize obsolete or expired stock.
- Support periodic stock audits and reconciliation.
Cost Optimization & Budget Control
- Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
- Monitor market trends in fertilizer and chemical pricing (global commodity trends, forex impact), where necessary.
- Optimize logistics costs by developing a competitive local transporter base and optimizing truck utilization.
Logistics & Import Coordination
- Coordinate import logistics including clearance with the Shipping Department.
- Track shipments and resolve delays or discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with importation regulations for hazardous and controlled substances.
- Align product arrival schedules with warehouse readiness to minimize truck waiting time.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare procurement reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Ensure audit readiness and compliance with internal controls
Other Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience.
- At least 2–3 years in agrochemicals, fertilizers, or regulated products will be an added advantage.
- Experience in international sourcing and importation is highly desirable.
