BACKGROUND
The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is a state corporation mandated to develop and manage the country’s maritime and inland water transport infrastructure. KPA is committed to providing efficient and reliable port services to facilitate trade and economic growth.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Kenya Ports Authority invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Procurement Officer. The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the procurement process in accordance with KPA’s policies and procedures, and relevant procurement laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement procurement strategies and plans.
- Manage the tendering process, including preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and award of contracts.
- Ensure compliance with procurement laws, regulations, and KPA policies.
- Maintain procurement records and prepare reports.
- Liaise with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage contracts and monitor supplier performance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional qualification in CIPS or equivalent.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in procurement.
- Knowledge of public procurement laws and regulations in Kenya.
- Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Office and procurement software.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
