A procurement officer sources and acquires goods and services for an organization, ensuring they are cost-effective, high-quality, and comply with policies. Their duties include supplier research, contract negotiation, budget management, record-keeping, and building vendor relationships.

Supplier Management: Research, identify, and evaluate potential suppliers and service providers. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with vendors. Negotiation and Contracting: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure the best value for the organization. Manage and monitor active contracts. Budgeting and Cost Control: Establish budgets for purchases, forecast procurement costs, and identify opportunities to reduce expenses and maximize ROI. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, donor regulations, and legal requirements. Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities. Record Management: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all procurement transactions, purchases, and supplier information. Internal Collaboration: Work with internal departments to understand their needs and ensure timely delivery of necessary supplies and services. Quality Assurance: Ensure that procured goods and services meet established quality standards and organizational requirements.

Minimum of 1 year of relevant procurement experience preferably in a healthcare organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement systems. High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related field Professional certification (CIPS,KISM) is an added advantage.
