POSITION: PRODUCTION MANAGER

INDUSTRY: MANUFACTURING - BUILDING MATERIALS, CEMENT, CARRO, ROOFING SHEETS, TILE ADHESIVES

REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL-TIME

Position Summary:

We are seeking a decisive and proactive Production Manager to lead and manage all aspects of plant operations, production planning, and resource optimization. The Production Manager will be responsible for aligning manufacturing output with business forecasts, implementing robust Materials Resource Planning (MRP) systems, and driving operational excellence through data-driven decision making, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage weekly/monthly production schedules to meet customer demand and sales targets.
  • Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to align production with business forecasts.
  • Monitor workflows and output to ensure maximum productivity and minimal waste.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies to drive operational efficiency.
  • Purchase and control resources allocated to the manufacturing capacity and minimize downtimes.
  • Lead MRP implementation and ensure a lean and efficient flow of materials/products.
  • Monitor inventory turnover rates and address overstocking or discards.
  • Requisition new materials based on production schedules and demand forecasts.
  • Track material usage, batch control, and wastage through MRP systems.
  • Establish and maintain strict quality control processes in line with ISO 9001 and other standards.
  • Lead Six Sigma or Kaizen initiatives to reduce defects and improve process efficiency.
  • Monitor KPIs such as First Pass Yield (FPY), Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO), and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Collaborate with the team to improve product formulations and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Apply Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across availability, performance, and quality metrics.
  • Lead and supervise production team members, operations, maintenance personnel, and quality control staff.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement training programs to upskill employees.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement improvement plans.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other local/national safety regulations.
  • Prepare detailed weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on production output, OEE, waste reduction, and downtime.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on plant layout, equipment, and process optimization.
  • Monitor KPIs such as Cycle Time, Delivery Time, Production Downtime, and Yield Rate.
  • Present findings and design recommendations to senior management.
  • Manage the plant's budget and ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Lead plant-wide change initiatives and culture development - "The Metro Way".
  • Stay abreast with the latest advancements in manufacturing technologies and best production capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Production Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Experience in construction materials production (cement, astro, roofing sheets, adhesives etc.)
  3. Knowledge of production systems, supply chain, and lean manufacturing.
  4. Experience in manufacturing with at least 3-5 in a managerial capacity.
  5. Strong knowledge of production systems, supply chain, and lean manufacturing.
  6. Proficient in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  8. Experience in implementing TPM, OEE, and process optimization.
  9. Strong analytical and management awareness.
  10. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  11. Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  12. Ability to thrive under pressure and tight deadlines.
