We are urgently seeking for a Production Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing daily bread manufacturing operations, including mixing, proofing, baking, slicing, packaging, and dispatch preparation.

Salary: Gross KSh 50,000

Job Purpose: The role ensures production targets, product quality, food safety standards, and operational efficiency are consistently achieved.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in food manufacturing or bakery production
  • Prior supervisory experience in an FMCG environment is an added advantage

Working Conditions

  • Factory-based role with exposure to heat, noise, and flour dust
  • Requires standing for extended periods
  • Involves light lifting (up to 5 kg)
  • Requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Production efficiency and achievement of output targets
  • Consistency in product quality and adherence to standards
  • Reduction of waste, rejects, and production losses
  • Equipment uptime and minimal unplanned downtime
  • Staff productivity and performance management
  • Compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Accuracy in packaging, dispatch, and order fulfillment

Key responsibilities

  1. Production Planning & Scheduling
    • Develop and implement daily production plans based on demand forecasts
    • Plan dough batching and baking schedules
    • Ensure availability of raw and packaging materials
    • Monitor output to meet production targets
    • Coordinate with procurement and stores to avoid shortages
  2. Team Leadership & Supervision
    • Supervise production staff (mixers, bakers, packers, loaders, etc.)
    • Assign duties and monitor shift performance
    • Train, coach, and guide team members
    • Ensure smooth shift handovers
    • Promote discipline, teamwork, and productivity
  3. Production Operations
    • Oversee all stages: mixing, proofing, baking, cooling, slicing, and packaging
    • Ensure adherence to recipes and process standards
    • Monitor dough consistency, proofing conditions, and oven temperatures
    • Maintain efficient production flow
  4. Quality Control & Food Safety
    • Ensure products meet quality and regulatory standards
    • Monitor weight, texture, appearance, and packaging
    • Enforce hygiene and food safety procedures
    • Investigate and resolve quality issues
  5. Packaging & Dispatch
    • Supervise slicing, packaging, and labeling
    • Ensure correct sealing, dating, and labeling
    • Enforce FIFO principles
    • Coordinate dispatch and verify quantities
  6. Equipment Management
    • Monitor machinery performance (mixers, ovens, slicers, etc.)
    • Report faults and coordinate maintenance
    • Support preventive maintenance schedules
    • Ensure safe and proper machine usage
  7. Training & Development
    • Train new staff on operations and safety
    • Conduct refresher training sessions
    • Identify skill gaps and recommend improvements
  8. Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and implement efficiency improvements
    • Analyze production data and reduce bottlenecks
    • Minimize waste and product rejects
    • Apply lean manufacturing practices
  9. Health, Safety & Hygiene
    • Enforce workplace safety standards
    • Ensure PPE usage
    • Conduct safety inspections
    • Maintain high hygiene standards
