Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Program Officer to join our client’s team on a 6-month maternity cover contract. In this role, you will support the implementation of education and empowerment programs for girls and young women, including scholarship coordination, out-of-school learning initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and program reporting.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the development sector, particularly in programs supporting women and girls, and a strong understanding of the Kenya education system.
- Coordinate and implement program activities in line with approved workplans and budgets.
- Manage scholarship and in-school program activities, including application reviews, interviews, selection, and scholar support.
- Track participant wellbeing, academic progress, safeguarding needs, and access to psychosocial and school-based support.
- Support implementation and monitoring of out-of-school learning initiatives and community-based learning centres.
- Coordinate learner mobilization, facilitator onboarding, and regular check-ins with field teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, parents, community leaders, government stakeholders, and partner organizations.
- Plan and support alumnae engagement, transition support, and career activation activities.
- Monitor activity budgets and support procurement, logistics, and financial accountability processes.
- Maintain program trackers, databases, dashboards, and reports.
- Support safeguarding, risk assessments, incident reporting, and crisis response where required.

- Bachelor’s degree in Gender and Development Studies, Education, Public Policy, Community Development, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Project Management, Safeguarding, MERL, or Resource Mobilization is an added advantage.
- At least 3 years of experience implementing programs supporting women and girls in a development context.
- Good understanding of the Kenya education system.
- Experience working in ASAL regions.
- Experience engaging donors, government stakeholders, schools, and community partners.
