Responsibilities
- Coordinates qualitative and quantitative environmental, social, and economic analysis, related to the baseline of electronics pollution and effectiveness of interventions at national, regional, and global levels, in close collaboration with UNEP Regional Offices and partners.
- Generates surveys and consultation questions; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses; identify problems/issues and prepares conclusions.
- Assesses information related to the latest innovation, technologies and solutions on upstream, midstream and downstream interventions of reducing electronics pollution, including scalable and fundable solutions from incubators and start-ups; presents comparative analysis on their strengths and limitations from environmental, economic and social aspects.
- Researches, analyzes, presents information gathered from diverse sources and assist in policy development and enforcement on reducing electronics pollution, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies.
- Delivers technical guidance and advisory to the development and implementation of activities under the Circularity in the Electronics Sector project, on best practices, feasibility assessment, risk and impact assessment, and key indicators to measure the success of activities.
- Supports the review and quality control of all electronics related publications, background papers, analytical notes, briefings, messaging and communication materials in UNEP.
- Supports engagement with the private sector engagement, and develop partnership and cooperation to support the implementation of relevant activities under the Circularity in the Electronics Sector project, on knowledge sharing, scale-up of innovative solutions, financing, and capacity development.
- Supports resource mobilisation through the development of project concepts and proposals and the establishment of cooperation with the private sector and other stakeholders.
- Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, related to electronics pollution, to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations.
- Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree, or equivalent) in electronic and electric or environmental engineering, product design or technology, environmental sciences, development studies, business administration, sustainability study or a related field is required.
- A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two (2) additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management or related area is required.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in working in, or with the private sector on implementing upstream innovation and solutions in reducing electronics overproduction, overconsumption, waste or pollution is required.
- Experience working in, or with, developing countries and managing development projects to reduce electronics pollution is desirable. Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
