Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive accounting records via ERP system
  • Extract journals, post to the general ledger, and submit accurate trial balances and management accounts by the 5th of every month
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and weekly cash flow updates
  • Lead the preparation of the project's annual budget and support departmental heads with budgetary controls.
  • Ensure full statutory compliance, including accurate payroll processing and all statutory deductions
  • Manage donor funds meticulously, ensuring reports strictly align with donor specifications
  • Complete all annual audit schedules by January 15th of each year

Supervision & Internal Controls

  • Supervise the Accounts Assistant, Cashiers, and Stores staff
  • Conduct impromptu cash counts and check stock cards regularly
  • Oversee daily and intact banking of all project collections
  • Formally verify all received goods and sign Goods Received Notes (GRNs)
  • Coordinate quarterly physical stock-taking, generate variance reports, and ensure optimal stock levels
  • Maintain, tag, and insure all items on the project’s Fixed Assets Register, conducting physical verification annually
  • Ensure data safety via daily backups and bi-weekly offsite safe deposits

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Business Administration, or a related field
  • Fully qualified CPA (K) or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a project, NGO, or healthcare setup.
  • Demonstrated experience working with donor-funded projects and strict compliance frameworks

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced hands-on experience with ERP Accounting software and MS Excel is mandatory
  • Strong knowledge of stores management, stock-taking procedures, and variance reporting
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop finance and stores support staff
  • High level of integrity, strong analytical skills, and an uncompromising attitude toward meeting strict deadlines – this to be confirmed by at least two former employers
