Responsibilities or duties
- Define the LSFF project scope, activities, and objectives in line with GAIN business plans, programme frameworks, and strategic priorities, and lead project design and planning workshops.
- Strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of key stakeholders across the food fortification value chain (including producers, laboratories, premix blenders, and government regulators) to ensure effective fortification and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure effective planning, coordination, and delivery of food fortification inputs, including premix, fortification hardware, and laboratory and diagnostic supplies, addressing supply chain risks that could affect project outcomes.
- Promote and ensure adherence to GAIN’s code of conduct and organizational principles, including equity, diversity, gender, child safety, and staff health and wellbeing.
- Lead on advocacy and accountability initiatives involving private sector leaders such as CEOs, public-sector, third-party advocates, implementing partners and other key stakeholders.
- Supporting government to establish and strengthen LSFF programs; specifically enabling a strategic, systematic, collaborative, transparent and economical regulatory landscape and therefore, improving LSFF impact overall.
Qualifications or requirements
You are an accomplished international development professional with demonstrated experience in designing and managing complex projects in nutrition and Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF). Brings in-depth knowledge of LSFF compliance, quality assurance, and impact, with extensive experience working alongside industry and government stakeholders in Kenya to strengthen and sustain effective fortification programmes.
The position holder should be experienced in advocacy and engagement to build accountability, influence policy, and drive collective action.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and consensus building skills are critical to succeed in this role. You should have strong project management skills to implement the project within budget, donor timelines and organisational compliance parameters.
Excellent people management and facilitation skills highly preferred. An education background in food science and technology, nutrition, sustainable development or related field is required. Training or certification in food fortification or micronutrient interventions, food safety, quality assurance will be an added advantage.
