Responsibilities or duties

Incumbent has primary accountability for the development and construction of assigned construction projects. Such projects include new meetinghouses, CES seminaries and small institutes, and small welfare projects, large R&I projects. Incumbent is expected to meet performance standards associated with the costs, quality, and timeliness objectives of the department.

Qualifications or requirements

Requires a BS or SA degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture (or local equivalent education) with at least three to five years of related construction field experience (such as: construction management) or a minimum of 3 years of strong building construction background (owner of firm, project manager, or superintendent).

Requires proven leadership, business, management and negotiation skills.

Requires ability to communicate and deal with sensitivity and respect with ecclesiastical leaders, and effectively with real estate representatives, architects, engineers, contractors, city building officials, governmental agencies, neighborhood associations, zoning review boards, etc.

Requires basic estimating, scheduling, and analysis work skills.

The incumbent must possess good public relations skills and have demonstrated ability to manage people and multiple projects.

Must work well with and through people in the performance of his duties.

Project Manager must have access to and competence in computer support services to perform project cost control and scheduling to analyze and report performance. Professional certification in a major related professional preferr

  • Project manages work of service providers such as architects, consultants, contractors to achieve standards of performance; seeks and provides input to continually improve performance.
  • Analyzes project information to continuously seek ways to meet standards of performance.
  • Supports and contributes to work of other related functions such as Operations and Maintenance by providing expertise and services as needed.
  • Ensures timely and cost effective acquisition of real estate properties to anticipate impact on construction costs and timeliness requirements.
  • Provides effective project management support to stake presidents to solve their problems within established policy.
  • Contributes to the professional and improvement of peers by sharing expertise.
  • Develops professional skills and receives training to improve professional competence.
