The role

We are looking for a Project Manager Intern to help us manage a new project for an East African financial technology partner. This role is not about slide decks or high-level strategy meetings. It is about helping our developers and the client keep their eyes on the project timeline while we build the backend systems that move money securely. Since we are a fully remote team, you will be coordinating across different time zones to make sure the requirements for this fintech project are clear and the team has what it needs to keep shipping software.

About Pixel Systems

Pixel Systems is a small, remote software agency. We build the tools that teams actually use to run their businesses. We do not do flashy consumer apps or marketing sites. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that people usually try to avoid. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a sprawling spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another.

We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything, the code, the documentation, and even walkthrough videos, when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain.

The Role

As a Project Manager Intern, you will be in the middle of our communication flow. You will work closely with our senior developers and our fintech partner to document features and track progress. Your daily tasks will involve taking notes during technical calls, updating our project boards, and drafting the weekly updates we send to the client. This is a practical role where you will learn how software projects actually move from a list of requirements to a finished product in production.

You will be responsible for keeping the documentation organized and ensuring that every bug report has the information a developer needs to fix it. You will also help prepare for our weekly demos. This might involve setting up test data in a database or helping to record the walkthrough videos we send to clients. Because we are a remote company, you will spend a lot of time writing. We value clarity and brevity in all our internal and external communications.

What You Bring

  • You are highly organized and actually enjoy keeping things in order.
  • You can write clearly and explain technical concepts in plain English.
  • You are comfortable working in a remote environment where communication happens through text and scheduled video calls.
  • You are curious about how software is built and why certain database choices are made.
  • You follow through on small details, like checking if a bug was fixed before we tell the client it is done.
  • You can manage your own time without someone looking over your shoulder.
  • You are okay with repetitive work like updating task lists or formatting documentation.

Helpful Background

  • Familiarity with tools like GitHub or basic project management software.
  • Basic knowledge of how APIs work or what a database is (you do not need to be a coder).
  • Strong skills with spreadsheets, such as Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Any past experience in administrative roles or university clubs where you organized events or managed schedules.
  • A professional interest in financial technology and how digital payments work.

Working at Pixel Systems

Working here is different from a large corporation. We do not have layers of management. You will work directly with the developers who are writing the code. We value your time, and since we are fully remote, we focus on the quality of your work rather than how many hours you spend at a desk. The work we do for our East African fintech partner has real consequences, helping people manage their finances across borders. This creates a sense of purpose that goes beyond just finishing a project. This is a full-time, paid internship role. The compensation is competitive for the market and this level of responsibility.

We are a team that values stability and honesty. We do not chase trends or use buzzwords. We just build software that helps people do their jobs better. We are senior engineers and designers who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest industry fads. If you want to learn how projects are run in the real world without the corporate fluff, you will fit in well with our team.
