Background

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the UN's central administrative hub in the region. UNON provides administrative, logistical, and other support services to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), both headquartered in Nairobi.

Responsibilities

The Publishing Assistant will be responsible for a range of tasks to support the publishing activities of UNON. This may include:

  • Assisting in the preparation and formatting of documents for publication.
  • Proofreading and editing manuscripts for grammar, spelling, and style.
  • Coordinating with authors, designers, and printers.
  • Managing publication databases and tracking progress.
  • Providing administrative support to the publishing team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in publishing, editing, or a related field.
  • Excellent command of English, with strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with publishing software is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
