Our client is a maize flour milling company committed to producing high-quality, safe, and nutritious flour products for the market. The company operates under strict quality and food safety standards to ensure consistency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
The Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, production processes, and finished maize flour products meet established quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The role focuses on maintaining product consistency in texture, color, taste, and nutritional value while ensuring compliance with food safety and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspection
- Inspect incoming maize for quality parameters including moisture content, aflatoxins, insect damage, discoloration, mold, stones, and other contaminants.
- Conduct sampling and perform both qualitative and quantitative laboratory analysis, including organoleptic testing.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for quality assurance and control.
- Define and monitor critical control points and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards (e.g. KEBS, DOSH).
- Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and compliance with quality requirements.
Food Safety Compliance
- Implement and maintain food safety and hygiene standards across all production stages.
- Ensure compliance with local and international food safety regulations.
Process Monitoring
- Oversee machinery operations to ensure adherence to production SOPs.
- Maintain traceability systems for raw materials and finished products.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare inspection and quality control reports.
- Maintain accurate records of batch traceability, audits, and inspection data.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven reporting.
Corrective Actions & Improvement
- Identify product defects and non-conformities.
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support continuous improvement of production and quality systems.
Regulatory Engagement
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies such as KEBS for certification and audits.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to performance monitoring and improvement of production processes.
- Support inventory control for consumables and quality-related materials.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Food Science and Technology, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
- Prior experience in quality assurance, food production, or laboratory testing is an added advantage.
