Registered nurses (RNs) provide direct patient care, administer treatments and medications, assess patient health, and implement care plans while working alongside doctors and other healthcare professionals. 

Direct Patient Care: Provide care to sick, injured, ill, or convalescent patients, which includes physical exams, wound care, and assisting with personal hygiene. Care Planning: Assess patient health problems, develop individualized care plans, and monitor patient progress to ensure goals are met and plans are adjusted as needed. Medication and Treatment Administration: Administer medications, start IVs, and provide various treatments as ordered by healthcare practitioners. Medical Record Management: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and patient charts. Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, health maintenance, and complex medical conditions and treatments in understandable terms. Coordination and Collaboration: Work with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to implement and manage comprehensive patient care plans. Advocacy: Act as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their rights are protected and they receive quality care. Supervision: Supervise and guide less experienced healthcare staff, including nursing assistants.

Critical Thinking: Analyze complex situations, make educated decisions, and develop practical solutions for diverse patient needs. Communication: Clearly and concisely communicate with patients, families, and the medical team, both verbally and in writing. Empathy and Interpersonal Skills: Show compassion, understand patient experiences, and build strong rapport with individuals and their families. Ability to Work Under Pressure: Remain calm, focused, and effective in high-stress environments and during medical emergencies. Attention to Detail: Meticulously follow instructions, document patient care accurately, and maintain detailed records. Adaptability: Be flexible and prepared to adjust care plans or strategies as patient conditions change.
