Responsibilities or duties
The: Record Management Assistant II is responsible for the following functions:
- Receiving, opening, sorting and dispatching mails;
- Maintaining registers for incoming and outgoing mails;
- Ensuring the security of files and documents;
- Ensuring pending correspondences are brought to the attention of the supervisor and appropriate action taken;
- Preparing appraisal and disposal schedule of file and documents in liaison with relevant stakeholders;
- Digitizing NLAS document for circulation and archiving;i.
- Maintaining the registry is in good standard; and
- Responding for archival and safety keeping of all documents
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
The following are the recognized qualifications for the cadre:
- Diploma in any of the following fields: Records Management, Information Management, Information Science, Library Science, or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institutions; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and result;
Experience needed
At least three (3) years cumulative work experience at the grade of Records Management Assistant III or comparable position in the public Service or private sector;

Remuneration will be in accordance with NLAS Salary Scale:
NLAS GRADE 8. Kshs. 52,844 x 3,703 – 56,547 x 3,703 – 60,250 x 3,703 – 63,953 x 3,703 – 67,656 x 3,703 – 71,359 x 3,703 – 75,062 x 3,703 – 78,765 p.m.

NOTE: NLAS Grades 1, 2 & 3 are on a three-years contract basis, renewable once while the rest are on permanent and pensionable terms
Successful candidates MUST satisfy the requirements of Leadership and Integrity as set out in Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya and shall be required to present the following documents before being issued with an offer letter;
- Clearance from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
- Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority;
- Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;v
- Certificate of Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau; and
- Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board or proof of ongoing repayments.
