Responsibilities or duties

The Regenerative Agriculture Lead is responsible for developing and scaling regenerative agriculture initiatives across coffee-growing communities within Kenyacof supply chains. The role focuses on improving soil health, biodiversity, farmer livelihoods, climate resilience, and long-term coffee sustainability through regenerative farming practices, while working closely with agronomy, sustainability, sourcing, and farmer support teams to support Sucafina’s sustainability and responsible sourcing goals.

Qualifications or requirements

Lead and mentor agronomy teams to deliver farmer support programs aligned with regenerative agriculture and sustainability objectives. Conduct soil analysis and soil health management by providing tailored nutrient management recommendations to improve farm productivity and resilience. Design and implement regenerative agriculture practices including composting and sustainable soil amendment strategies across coffee supply chains. Manage revolving fund programs through coordination of agricultural input distribution, farmer adoption tracking, and recovery reporting to ensure accountability and impact. Oversee sustainable waste and wastewater management initiatives to promote circular economy practices at wet mills. Lead sustainability certification compliance for programs including Rainforest Alliance, C.A.F.E. Practices, IMPACT, and Fairtrade standards. Deliver farmer training and capacity building on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), regenerative agriculture, climate-smart farming, financial literacy, and farm business management. Provide field-based agronomy support through regular farm visits and guidance on responsible agrochemical and fertilizer use. Demo Plots: Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of demonstration plots to showcase and validate the effectiveness of new and existing regenerative agriculture practices, including inputs, soil amendments, soil rejuvenation techniques, and crop varieties. Promote gender equity and youth inclusion through farmer group development, entrepreneurship training, and income diversification initiatives. Lead sustainability data collection and reporting including carbon mapping, certification monitoring, and impact tracking to support evidence-based decision-making. Support broader sustainability and regenerative agriculture initiatives as assigned.

Experience needed

5–7 years’ experience in regenerative agriculture, agronomy, sustainability, or agricultural extension, preferably within the coffee value chain. Proven experience leading agronomy teams and implementing farmer support and regenerative agriculture programs. Experience working with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and sustainability certification programs including Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, and C.A.F.E. Practices. Strong background in soil health management, climate-smart agriculture, farmer training, and sustainability reporting.
