About the Role
The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) is a leading non-governmental organization dedicated to advocating for the rights, rehabilitation, and empowerment of persons with disabilities in Kenya. We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven executive leader to fill the position of Regional Manager – Coast Region, based at our Mombasa Branch.
The Regional Manager - Coast Region provide overall strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial management for APDK’s programs and assets across the three branches in Mombasa – Likoni Furniture, Portreiz Rehabilitation Clinic and Bombolulu Workshop and Cultural Centre (BWCC).
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the execution of APDK’s strategic plan within the Coast Region, setting clear operational targets and performance metrics.
- Direct multi-disciplinary regional teams across clinical rehabilitation, furniture, orthopaedic production, finance, and administration.
- Ensure effective governance, risk management, asset safeguarding, and adherence to organizational policies and labor laws.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of regional operational and capital budgets.
- Champion regional financial sustainability by managing income-generating units and identifying new local revenue streams.
- Write donor proposals and lead resource mobilization efforts to support regional rehabilitation programs.
- Oversee the implementation of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR), mobile outreach clinics, and health intervention programs across regional counties.
- Ensure all produced mobility devices and rehabilitation products meet relevant statutory standards (e.g., KEBS certification).
- Serve as APDK’s primary ambassador in the Coast Region, building strong networks with County Governments (Health & Social Services), the NCPWD, corporate sponsors, and civil society organizations.
- Mobilize community buy-in and enhance organizational visibility across the region.
Qualifications, Experience & Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Project Management, Healthcare Management, or a related field from a recognized institution. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive management experience in an NGO, health sector, or social enterprise setting, with at least 3 years in a regional or senior supervisory role.
- Proven working knowledge of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR), disability advocacy, and working with marginalized groups.
- Proven experience in managing a business portfolio
- Demonstrated success in budget management, staff mentorship, institutional asset management, and resource mobilization.
- Active registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., KIM, IHRM, or equivalent) is preferred.

- Strategic thinking with strong financial and business acumen.
- Exceptional team leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Outstanding negotiation, public relations, and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of integrity, ethical standards, and commitment to safeguarding PWDs.
