Role Purpose:
The Relationship Manager – Liabilities will be responsible for designing and executing strategies to mobilize and retain deposits from corporate, institutional, and individual clients. The role focuses on market research, product innovation, and relationship management to achieve liability growth targets, ensuring compliance, service excellence, and profitability for the bank. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of deposit products while driving customer satisfaction and long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive deposit mobilization strategy, identifying target markets, growth opportunities, and performance metrics.
- Build and nurture relationships with corporate clients, institutions, and high-net-worth individuals to attract deposits and grow market share.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and client behaviors to identify and respond to emerging deposit opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to design and launch innovative deposit products and promotional campaigns.
- Monitor deposit accounts to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and the bank’s internal policies.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to relationship officers and teams to strengthen deposit mobilization capabilities.
- Prepare and present regular performance and pipeline reports on deposit activities, highlighting growth progress and market insights.
- Manage deposit-related risks including liquidity, interest rate exposure, and customer attrition.
- Foster a customer-centric and results-driven culture within the team to align with Umba’s strategic goals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in deposit mobilization, banking, or financial services, with a proven record of meeting targets.
- Strong understanding of financial products, market dynamics, and deposit regulations.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Analytical thinker with sound decision-making capabilities and data interpretation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and banking software systems.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with strategic planning and team management experience.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
