ROLE PURPOSE:

The Relationship Officer - Deposit Mobilization will be responsible for driving deposit growth in line with Umba's liabilities growth strategy. This role will involve identifying, acquiring, and managing both retail and institutional clients, nurturing strong relationships, and ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction, loyalty, and retention. The position holder will play a key role in growing the bank's funding base while maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deposit Mobilization: Identify and acquire new deposit clients to achieve monthly deposit growth targets; promote and market long- term deposit products to ensure funding stability; cross- sell additional bank products to existing and potential clients to maximize relationship value.

Client Relationship Management: Develop and manage a portfolio of deposit clients, ensuring regular interaction, satisfaction, and retention; monitor client account activity, identifying and addressing dormant or at- risk relationships; respond promptly to client inquiries and resolve issues to enhance customer experience.

Portfolio Reporting and Performance Tracking: Maintain accurate and up- to- date records of leads, prospects, and clients using CRM or internal systems; provide regular performance and pipeline reports to the Relationship Manager; monitor progress against individual and departmental targets, recommending corrective actions as required.

Market Intelligence: Collect and analyze feedback from clients and market trends to enhance deposit mobilization strategies; track competitor performance and activities, providing insights to inform business decisions.

Compliance and Operational Excellence: Ensure full adherence to KYC, AML, and other compliance regulations in all client interactions; coordinate with internal support teams to facilitate account opening, onboarding, and documentation accuracy.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in sales, relationship management, or deposit mobilization within the financial services or banking sector.
  • Proven success in achieving financial and sales targets.
  • Excellent understanding of banking operations, market trends, and customer relationship management principles.
