Relationship/Loan Officer

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND , Diploma

Experience: 2 years

Location: Embu

Job Field: Finance / Accounting / Audit

Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit new clients for revolving credit facilities.
  • Market and sell the organization's loan products.
  • Conduct customer needs assessments and financial evaluations.
  • Receive and process loan applications.
  • Verify customer information and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct credit appraisal and risk assessment.
  • Recommend loan approvals within delegated authority.
  • Prepare loan documentation and facilitate disbursements.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Educate clients on loan terms, repayment obligations, and financial literacy.
  • Monitor loan utilization and portfolio performance.
  • Follow up on due repayments and minimize portfolio at risk (PAR).
  • Manage delinquent accounts and support debt recovery efforts.
  • Achieve assigned loan disbursement and collection targets.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and CRM updates.
  • Conduct regular market intelligence and competitor analysis.
  • Cross-sell additional financial products and services.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
  • Represent the organization professionally within assigned markets.

Skills & Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in microfinance, SACCO, banking, or credit operations.
  • Experience managing revolving credit products is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of credit appraisal and loan processing.
  • Proven experience in sales and portfolio growth.
  • Good understanding of debt collection and recovery processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital lending systems.
  • Valid riding licence or driving licence is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel within assigned territories.
